Sat 6th Oct   Neil Balfour & Wendy Carr  with  Musicals, Opera, Contemporary Folk Songs, Classical Piano

Emerging from Whalley Primary and moving onto Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, local lad Neil Balfour has paired up with soprano Wendy Carr for an evening of musicals, opera, contemporary folk songs and classical piano. Having met at Leeds College of Music during their degree studies both are now pursuing careers in the arts and will be showcasing their diverse repertoire, from dazzling show numbers, atmospheric folk songs to tear jerking classical numbers all in one evening.
Recent accolades include Wendy starring in Young Opera Venture's production of 'the Marriage of Figaro' in the leading role 'Susannah,' whilst Neil was chosen to play piano as part of a private performance for Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip at the renowned City Varieties Theatre, Leeds on July 19th 2012.

Sat 3rd Nov     Library Theatre Touring Company presents   '2 talking heads'   by Alan Bennett

Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet ... A middle-aged lady who cares for her ailing brother, Miss Fozzard masks a quirky private life with a conventional job as a soft furnishings store clerk. When a new podiatrist arrives on the scene, will Miss Fozzard find a way to keep a foot in both worlds?
Bed Among The Lentils ... Susan is a nervous vicar’s wife who distracts herself from her vainly insensitive husband and his doting parishioners by conducting an affair with a nearby grocer, Ramesh Ramesh, discovering something about herself and God in the process..
ALAN BENNETT sealed his reputation as the master of observation with this series of 12 ground-breaking monologues. Darkly comic, tragically poignant and wonderfully uplifting the series of ‘Talking Heads’ is widely regarded as a modern classic.
We are looking forward to another inspired performance by Library Theatre Touring Company's Deborah Kelly whose 'Brilliant Divorce' entertained us so magnificently last June despite much extraneous 'music'.

Sat 1st Dec         The Garage Band     {of Whalley}

For over a decade the Garage Band has been entertaining Folk Clubs and pubs in the North West of England. The four musicians have known each other for much longer, having previously met each other at Jim’s Garage in Whalley, using this as a base for their weekly Saturday practice.
The line-up consists of four musicians who bring a variety and freshness to their music. They mainly perform a selection of Lancashire and Irish material but are continually adding new songs.
Based in Whalley Jim King lives and breathes for his beloved garage, located on the King Street. He still does the occasional car repair but sells an eclectic mix of country style furniture and bric-a-brac that no one could possibly live without. There’s seldom a day when he can’t be heard using his fine tenor voice to fill the rafters of his garage and frighten off the swallows. As well as singing he plays banjo and mandolin.
Pete Monk is another fine singer. He alternates with Jim to present most of the material the group sings. Pete plays English concertina and is a mine of information about much of the material the group sings.
Guitar and penny whistle. Tony Brown's passion is Bob Dylan. He is also our sound engineer.
Violin. Whalley resident and the only full time music professional in the group, Carol Lowe teaches music. Her musical skills have been invaluable in working out many of the arrangements for the songs and instrumentals.

Tickets for any of these events, at the very reasonable price of £6, can be
obtained at Whalley Post Office or from Grace Gemmell on 01254 823402
